The fundraising campaign

For over a year we collected donations for the implementation of the project on the Betterplace donation platform. The following is the copied text from our appeal for donations at the time: "Hey earth movers, my name is André and I am the coordinator of this project. I was born and raised in Brazil and currently live in Germany. With this project I want to support a village of the indigenous Huni Kuin population group in the southern Amazon in Brazil. But who exactly are the Huni Kuin? There are more than 10,800 Huni Kuin living in various areas in the Brazilian state of Acre, which are located on the Tarauacá, Jordão, Breu, Muru, Envira, Humaitá and Purus rivers. Around 2,400 Huni Kuin settled in Peru after they were forced to split up their nomadic tribes around 1900 AD. I have known the Huni Kuin for 9 years and they have helped me a lot with my understanding of the world, especially with regard to nature and spirituality, which is why it is a matter close to my heart to give something back. The last place I visited was in August 2016, the village of Mati txana Mukaya near the Humaitá River. I received this request for help from the head of the village, where around 100 young and old people live. The village needs support in the form of various tools and materials, water and energy supplies and the construction of a Shubuã. The Shubuã is the spiritual center of the village. All important aspects of community life in the village take place there - school, religion, tradition, meetings, sessions, decision-making processes about changes and innovations in the village. I learned from the Pajé (shaman) of the village that another reason for building a new Shubuã is a sacred place on a hill, which is more suitable due to its spiritual significance. Supporting the Huni Kuin is more than just a personal vision. It is also an opportunity for cultural and spiritual exchange that can enrich European culture and other parts of the world. The Huni Kuin have ancient wisdom and an understanding and awareness of life that has been lost in most parts of this modern and rapidly changing world. It is their wish to establish a connection with the whole world to show their tradition and share knowledge. In summary, the idea of this crowdfunding is, on the one hand, to strengthen the skills, knowledge and resources of the Huni Kuin while preserving traditions and language. On the other hand, we want to build a bridge of exchange between the Amazon and Europe by creating workshops and meeting places where biological, medical and spiritual knowledge and wisdom can be shared. As part of our fundraising campaign, we had our first small appearance as an association in the Remscheider Generalanzeiger newspaper in February 2019, shortly before reaching our fundraising goal.

Shortly afterwards, the donation goal was reached and our NGO members André and Clara set off for the village of "Mati txana Mukaya" in the Brazilian Amazon.
